Mrs. Evelyn Garner concluded 21 years with the Louisiana Loggers Association/Self Insured Fund in Winnfield on July 31, with a retirement reception held at the offices on Highway 84 West.

She said that she and her husband, Johnny Garner, plan to enjoy life and do some traveling fairly soon.

In the meantime, she continues to come to the office for a few hours each week to assist Mrs. Jeannie Gaar in getting all the records up to date, in preparation for Mrs. Gaar's new responsibilities as Client Service Manager.

Mrs. Garner joined the LLA/SIF in April, 1994, as secretary, grew through the ranks and was named Administrator in 2005.

Mr. and Mrs. Garner are the parents of a son, Brandon, and a daughter, Laurie Hennessey. They have five grandchildren.

During the years, the LLA/SIF has continued a steady growth to its present membership of 220. Enrollment is limited to Louisiana loggers.

Jimmy Standley, a former logging contractor, is Safety Officer, doing regular inspections of members' logging jobs to maintain safe work conditions to prevent injuries. Standley succeeded Bobby Erskins as Safety Officer. The LLA/SIF has maintained minimum losses from injuries, and financial management that has enabled the reimbursement of premium dividends to members in excess of $1,000,000 in each of the past 12 years.

With Mrs. Garner's retirement, the LLA/SIF fund will be administered under Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management, by Terry Duke of Monroe.
